Alex Hyland

On June 30th, 2017, Alex Hyland of Windsor, Colorado was announced, Miss Rodeo Colorado
2018 during her hometown rodeo - the Greeley Stampede. Alex won the categories of
Appearance, Speech, and the coveted Horsemanship award. She was officially crowned in
January of 2018 as the 62 nd Miss Rodeo Colorado at the Denver National Western Stock Show.
Miss Rodeo Colorado serves as a representative of the Centennial State, the Professional Rodeo
Cowboys Association (PRCA), and Agriculture. Alex will spend a year traveling to various rodeos
and western celebrations throughout the state and nation.
The 23 year old daughter of Peter and Nancy Hyland, of Windsor, graduated Cum Laude from
Colorado State University- Pueblo in the spring of 2017. Alex obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in
Mass Communications with an emphasis in Integrated Communications. During her time on
CSU-Pueblo’s campus; Alex restarted, competed and served as president for the rodeo team
and served as the Director of External Affairs for the Associated Students’ Government. Alex
plans to pursue a career as an Event Coordinator in the Rodeo or Agriculture industries.
As a proud Coloradoan, Alex began riding as soon as she could sit on a horse. Alex was raised
with her two older brothers on her family’s Black Angus cattle ranch which led to her
involvements with 4H, FFA, local gymkhanas and horse shows, and Colorado High School
Rodeo. During the year of 2012, Alex served as the Rooftop Rodeo Queen of Estes Park,
Colorado. From an early age Alex had passionate roots in rodeo, agriculture, and the western
heritage! As Colorado’s first lady of rodeo, Alex plans to bring her positive energy as she
devotes this year to the promotion and education of others about Colorado and its rich rodeo
and agricultural heritage and industries.
Her hobbies include; riding her horses, helping on the family ranch, swing dancing, camping,
and playing board games and spending time with her family.
In December of 2018, she’ll accompany the world’s best cowboys and cowgirls in Las Vegas,
Nevada for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, where she will proudly represent Colorado in
the Miss Rodeo America Pageant.
